The Tesla Trip has a big stop planned for Scottsdale, where I will be keynoting the i4cp Conference. The trip from Flagstaff along Interstate 17 was amazing. Beautiful scenery and a 15 mile downhill segment.
The electric car loves a long downhill segment - where it actually recharges some of the battery. The gauge on the dashboard was bright green - indicating the Tesla was delighted with the opportunity to go at 75 mph, using very little battery power.
Sashimi at Last: While I have loved the range of regional foods that I consumed across the country, it was almost impossible to find a Sushi/Sashimi restaurant along the way. I have been successfully dieting this year, to lose the 30+ pandemic pounds that I gained over the past 24 months - with many Sashimi lunches or dinners.
Using Yelp, we located a Japanese restaurant a few blocks from the conference hotel and aimed the GPS for a delightful dinner:
In a word - it was FANTASTIC! Including the conversations with a sushi chef preparing the meal. Still want regional foods on the trip forward to LA and our return route on the northern route to NY, but an occasional sashimi dinner along the way will help me keep on my diet.
Face to Face Keynoting & Conferences: It is a very exciting and different experience to be speaking at a face to face conference with hundreds of conference attendees:
The energy of the audience is strong and people are excited to share their questions, curiosities and pizzazz. The conversation at the i4cp is focused on how the workplace is shifting and the + and - of hybrid work (and learning). More on that my blog post tomorrow.
Conferences are popping up at the various hotels around Scottsdale. Last night, at dinner with some learning colleagues, I encountered an intriguing conference sign at a hotel:
Dogtopia 2022 - yes a conference for owners of dog daycare and cleaning franchise owners. I wish that I could drop in to their sessions and experience the conversations and dialogues.
“Stuck at Home Song by 6 Year Old”: I wanted to share a video clip that I will use in one of my sessions at the i4cp Conference - a song written by Rowan, a 6 year old in Nashville, called “Stuck at Home” and performed by Melinda Doolittle (star of American Idol):
