We are now in Scottsdale for 3 days, where I have the honor of keynoting the i4cp Annual Conference, for Talent, Learning and HR Leaders. On Sunday, we travelled from Gallup, NM to Winslow, AZ to Flagstaff, AZ and on to Scottsdale.
Standin’ on the Corner & Thinking of the Jackson Browne & The Eagles:
Jackson Browne began writing the “Take it Easy” in 1971 and worked on it later with Glen Frey from the Eagles. Here is a video to add some context as the song grew and became an Eagles and fan favorite:
It was wonderful to see fans of all ages and cultures gather on that street corner - with the song in their minds or voices. A wow moment!
Truck Stop Culture & Learning - Love’s Experiences: Driving in an electric car, it would seem strange to become fascinated with Truck Stops. But, we have found Love’s stops a place to stretch, get some snacks, use the bathrooms and marvel at the complexity of the Truck Stop Culture.
Truck drivers come to Love’s as a place to:
Gas up the trucks.
Book and take a shower.
Digitally access revenue from the shipping companies.
Repair their trucks.
Get food, a thermos of coffee and snacks.
Parts, supplies and resources for an on-the-road lifestyle.
At one Love’s, there was a poster advertising e-Learning courses for drivers to take using podcasts and digital radio. I felt a moment of pride for how e-Learning was evolved over the last few decades.
Trip Update - 3,000+ Miles and More!
Our Tesla Trip Meter shows we have gone over 3,000 miles as of this morning, across 13 States.
It has been a trip filled with learnings, conversations, aha’s and big moments of reflection and connections. And, we have another 6 hours of journey to Los Angeles, where we had planned to connect with learning and Broadway colleagues and then ship the Tesla back to New York, as we flew back home.
After looking at maps, rejoicing that I had only gained 1/2 pound of weight in the trip and thinking about the next 2 weeks - why stop in LA?
So, the Tesla Trip from NY to California will become the Tesla Trip from NY to California and back to NY on a more northern route. We will stop in Salt Lake City, to work with my colleague Dana Koch on our Learning Boot Camp Open Source project, meet with learning leaders in Denver and drive another 4,000 miles without buying a drop of gas.
