Tour Guide App, "Thinksgiving", Gigantic Rockers, Adaptive Doors, Digital Keynotes and More
Digital Tour Guide App - Co-Founded by Kevin Costner: We found an app, “HearHere” which is an iPhone/GPS linked collection of short audio segments about the cities, sites and history as we travel. Co-founded by Kevin Costner, the app has been fun:
Here is a sample that we listened to as we approached Terre Haute, Indiana. The map is the Tesla GPS and the audio from HearHere - http://www.hearhere.com
Gigantic Rocking Chairs: An example was Casey, Illinois, on the way to Indiana. The app told us about a small town with record breaking huge items, such as a Gigantic Rocking Chair, Wind Chime and Post Office Box. So, we took a 10 minute route off the highway:
A very cute and attractive small town with smile creating “monster-sized” sculptures.
Adaptive Room Entry Handles: It is wonderful to see several buildings evolve their hardware and entry systems to enable guests with adaptive access. Example from Indianapolis:
Dinner with Career/Learning Innovator: It was a treat to have dinner with my colleague, Haley Glover. She has helped shape the dialogue in the United States on building career ladders for employees, including educational access for restaurant workers. Over the years, Haley has been my mentor on how we can provide ladders for entry level employees. It was so stimulating to explore the future of careers, badging and learning together over a great dinner:
“THINKSGIVING” - A Day of Collaboration for a Lifetime of Impact: Here is a giving program that is very impactful - led by Matt Homann, Founder & CEO of Filament, a design, facilitation and problem solving innovator in St. Louis.
Imagine bringing together corporate leaders with non-profit organizations for a deep dive problem solving intensive for a day in November. It is a wonderful connection process. Check it out at: www.thinksgiving.com
3 Global Keynotes from Hotels: It the past 3 days, I have been on 3 different digital platforms for keynotes and briefings with corporate and government learning and business leaders around the globe:
Briefing on “Digital Badging” with Lockheed Martin: Gathered with learning and development leaders from Lockheed Martin - via Zoom - to dig deep on changes and evolutions of “Badging” the skills of our employees. While “badges” have been tried over the past 15 years, it is a critical time to explore the ups, downs and evolutions of “Badging”:
Keynote Dialogue - BHP in Australia - Mining & Mineral eLearning: At 8 pm in Indianapolis, it was morning in several cities in Australia, with BHP. They have shifted learning strategies, with more digital approaches to developing new hires in the complex world of mining and mineral production. Explored the shifts in learning - via a Webex interactive keynote.
Board Keynote - Conference of State Bank Supervisors: 7:30 am we did a tech check for a keynote presentation - via Microsoft Teams with the Board of Directors of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors. They represent the officials that visit, audit and supervise banks in your communities. We explored:
Impact of Pandemic on Learning.
Preparing to Augmented Reality and Crypto.
Digital Learning Next Steps.
It has been intriguing and stretching to provide keynote speeches from hotels, while on the road!
EV Savings on Trip: Our Tesla App provides a real time analysis of the gas savings on our 3 1/2 week long trip that is now almost 7,000 miles:
Recently, it is easier to have an Electric Car because chargers are more plentiful and efficient.
